Cambridge Schools - No Car Zone Feasibility Study

In January of 2020 Cambridgeshire County Council resolved to conduct a feasibility study on the implementation of ‘No car zones’ outside schools.

No car zones, as the name implies, are areas where vehicular traffic is not permitted. This can be for any period on any day of the week or it can be more specific.

‘No car zones’ have been implemented in London boroughs and cities such as Birmingham and Edinburgh. They have also been championed by charities such as Living Streets.

The aim of such schemes is to improve the safety, predominantly for children, in the vicinity of schools. There are other benefits associated that include the promotion of more sustainable methods of travel and improvements to air quality within the area.

Here you will find the data collected which is used as part of the study.
