New housing allowances announced

On 29 January 2016, the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) published new local housing allowance rates for the country. These rates are set for each of 152 "market areas" across England, and determine how much help people who are eligible can get towards their housing costs.

Your local rate

VOA also published the rates, in a helpful "search" format at http://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/search.aspx - here, you can type in your area, size of home, postcode etc. to find out which rate applies to you. The new 2016-17 rates, announced on 29 January 2016, will go "live" on the LHA-direct site from 18 March 2016.

Up to date

You can find the data which is published in January each year. Every year we simply add the "new" rates to the CSV and excel worksheets, to help you gain a view over time. We also aim to pulish the new rates in Atlas format with other data about the rental market. This means you can look at the rates for each year across the whole of England, and for each size of property.
